DIY: Knotted Headband Tutorial
Remember the headband I wore the other day? Well, I made that myself! Here is a tutorial on how to make your own knotted headband ;)
Craft: Knotted Headband
Source: Inspired by You Seriously Made That? (She makes great crafts, you should check her out!)
For this craft, you will need:
- Scissors
- Ribbon (About 28" should be more than enough)
- Glue Gun
- Yarn (one or two colors, its is up to you)
Here are the steps to completing this craft:
1. Creating the strands: Cut three strands of yarn of 48" each. Tie all three strands together on one end and braid them. Once you've braided the entire thing, tie all the loose ends together. You should have one long braided strand of about 40" long.
2. Make 4 strands: Repeat step one until you have 4 braided strands of about 40" long each. You can make them all the same color, or use different colors like I did.
3. Creating the "Short Strand": Grab 1 of the 4 braided strands and fold it in three like this:
Then fold it in two like this:
From now on, this strand will be referred to as the "Short Strand"
4. Creating the "Long Strand": Grab the three braided strands you have left and fold them in half like this:
From now on, this strand will be referred to as the "Long Strand"
5. Tying the Knot: Start by crossing the right strand over the left strand of the "Long Strand":
Then place the "Short Strand" over the "Long Strand" like so:
Cross the "Short Strand" under the "Long Strand" like so:
Now cross the "Short Strand" under the loop of the "Long Strand" like so:
Now cross the "Short Strand" over the loop of the "Long Strand" like so:
Then grab that same strand of the "Short Strand" and place it under and then over the "Long Strand" like so:
Now its time to tighten the knot! All you need to do is pull the four corners of the knot until it is as tight as you want it:
You should end up with something like this:
6. Adding Ribbon: Cut 2 strands of ribbon 10" long each, and 2 strands of ribbon 4" long each.
