{Halloween}: No-Sew Homemade Mermaid Costume
Hi guys!! Next up on my Halloween costume ideas for this year is this pretty homemade Mermaid costume!! I am absolutely smitten with how beautiful this costume turned out. And the best part?! You don't need to sew one single thing. Can I get an Amen?! Lets jump right into it shall we?
-- En Español -- Hola chicos! Para mi próximo disfraz de Halloween hecho en casa, les presento este tutorial para lucir como una bella sirena! Estoy taaaan contenta de lo lindo que resultó este disfraz. Y la mejor parte? No tienen que coser ni una sola cosa!! Así que empecemos con el tutorial, les parece?
Clothing:
To create this costume, you will need a formfitting dress in white, beige, or the color you prefer (I purchased mine for $8 at El Costo), a large square piece of green sequin fabric, a hot glue gun, safety pins, as well as a variety of sea shells, pearls, and sea glass.
Ropa:
Para crear este disfraz, vas a necesitar un vestido ceñido al cuerpo en blanco, beige, o el color de tu preferencia (yo compré el mío por $8 en el Costo), un pedazo rectangular de tela verde de lentejuelas, una pistola de goma caliente, imperdibles, y una variedad de conchas, perlas, y vidrio de mar.
Start by arranging to your liking the seashells, pearls, and glass over the top part of your dress. I decided to use a big sea shell towards the top and then a variety of smaller shells, pearls, and glass throughout the bottom. Use the hot glue gun to keep them all in place. I also used rhinestones to add extra sparkle to the big seashells.
Once you are finished decorating the top part of your dress, we can move on to the sequin skirt (the easiest part!). All you need to do is grab the fabric and wrap it around your lower body leaving all the excess fabric in the back. Then use safety pins to pin the sequin fabric in the back as close to your body as possible (as if you were creating a pencil skirt outlining your body!). Leave all the excess fabric in the back to resemble a beautiful tail or fish fin ;)

Empieza organizando las conchas, perlas, y vidrio en la parte de arriba del vestido de tal forma que te guste. Yo decidí color unas conchas grandes en la parte superior seguido de varias conchas pequeñas, perlas, y vidrio en el resto del vestido. Sujétalo todo con goma caliente. También utilice cristales para darle más brillo a las conchas grandes.
Cuando ya hallas terminado de decorar el vestido con las conchas, puedes proseguir con la parte más sencilla: la falda! Envuelve la tela de lentejuelas alrededor de tu cintura dejando todo el exceso de tela en la parte posterior. Luego utiliza imperdibles para sujetar la tela lo más cerca posible a lo largo de tu posterior y piernas (como si delinearas tu cuerpo). Deja todo el exceso de tela en la parte de atrás de la falda para asemejar una hermosa aleta de pez ;)
Y listo!
Mermaid Crown:
To create this pretty mermaid crown, I simply decorated a cheap princess crown I purchased from the party store with seashells and pearls. Easy peasy!
Corona de Sirena:
Para crear esta corona de sirena, sencillamente decoré una corona de princesa que compré en una tienda de fiestas con conchas de mar y perlas. Rápido y sencillo!
Makeup:
How pretty is this mermaid makeup, am I right? To create this scale effect, I put a pair of fishnet tights over my face and brushed blue, green, and lilac eyeshadow over my forehead and cheekbones. Once you remove the fishnet, you will get this beautiful scale effect! Finish off the look with a couple of blue rhinestones on your temples.
Maquillaje:
No les parece super lindo este maquillaje de sirena?! Para recrear el efecto de escamas, necesitas colocar unas medias fishnet sobre tu cara. Luego utiliza una brocha para colocar sombra azul, verde, y lila sobre tu frente y mejillas. Cuando remuevas las medias, verás un efecto super bonito de escamas! Termina el look con unos brillantes azules a los lados de tu cara.
