{Outfit}: Can you wear black to a wedding?
Saturday April 20, 2013 (night)
This is what I wore to a pretty wedding reception at the Club Union. I know some people feel that it isn't apropriate to wear black to a wedding, but I see people do it in Panama all the time! So for me, its definitely a DO!
As if wearing black isn't enough, I decided to step out of the box and wear an ear cuff as well! It felt great to break all of the rules ;)

One of the things I love most about weddings is looking at all the pretty decor and cute food. I mean just look at this adooorable cup made out of chocolate! Yup, that's right, that whole little cup is made out of chocolate, ingenious huh?
We had such a lovely time!
So what do you think, can you wear black to a wedding?

Such a gorgeous dress! You look amazing in it and the slit adds a little sex appeal. Looks great with the accessories too!
ReplyDeleteI think you can totally wear black to a wedding. Well maybe not too a beach wedding as I would think it would get too hot. I think it really depends on the style, if its more formal or more informal.
For my wedding I didn't have a strict dress code, I just asked that everyone dress nicely. If they wanted to wear black they could. For my reception I had it at The Cheesecake Factory! The restaurant was so accommodating and all I had to do is sit there- the best! haha
such a chic outfit! and no, i don't think there's anything wrong with wearing black to weddings, unless of course the bride and groom are traditional Chinese (since black is bad luck for them) your earcuff is amazing and those shoes! sigh...i wanted them so bad when they first came out at zara! but they are like the "ones that got away"

When you look this gorgeous, Marie, no one can complain about you wearing black to a wedding! That dress is amazing, you pull it off so well! And the earcuff and the shoes... Amazing outfit! I agree with some of the other comments; it depends on the wedding whether it is suitable to wear black or not, but in this case it looks like you dressed perfectly for the occassion :)
ReplyDeleteYummm, the food looks so good! Especially the chocolate cup, how cute and yummy is that?!

Thank you Heidi!!! Yeah I totally agree with you, it depends on the wedding really. I wouldn't wear black to a beach wedding, but for a more formal wedding I think it is perfectly apropriate. Oh wao, the reception at The Cheesecake Factory sounds like so much fun!! They have such DELISH food there!
ReplyDeleteThank you so so much!!! Oh wao, I didn't know that about traditional Chinese weddings, how interesting! I'm so sorry you didn't get a chance to buy these shoes in Zara, what a bummer :( I think I have seen very similar ones at Modcloth.com in case you want to check it out :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Sal!! Oh black and burgundy sounds like a lovely combination, I bet they looked fabulous!
ReplyDeleteThank you!! I'm glad to hear you agree with me regarding wearing black. Oh yes, the chocolate cup was just too cute! Almost too cute to eat!.... almost ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks Kim, I really appreciate it!! Glad to see we agree on the wearing black to weddings!
ReplyDeleteOh wao, really?!?!!? I'm soooo flattered that I inspired you to perhaps wear black to your sister's wedding in June!! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteThank you Lydia!! Oh yes, I think bridesmaids wearing black would look so classy and chic!! I'm sure it will happen someday, can't wait to see pictures when it does :)
ReplyDeleteAaaawww you are too sweet Jody, thank you so much!!! I really appreciate it! I agree with you too, it depends on the wedding. A beach wedding for example probably wouldn't be the best ocassion to wear black. But for more formal weddings I think its ok. Oh yes, the chocolate cup was just too original, I loved it!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!
ReplyDeleteYou look absolutely stunning!
ReplyDeleteYou look amazing, and I love black for weddings, love all the acessories. :D
ReplyDeleteAaaww thank you so much!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!! I appreciate it!
ReplyDeleteI see nothing wrong with black to a wedding, as long as it's chic! (Which, of course, you do perfectly!)
ReplyDeleteYes, black is acceptable for a wedding :) and you totally rocked it, loved the ear cuff.
ReplyDeleteOk, I mean... Are you trying to humiliate all the women in this world. Gosh! You look soooooo great!
ReplyDeletewow to the dress, wow to the ear cuff, wow to the shoes. WOW! to you!
About black in weddings. I agree it depends on the wedding. Though I think there's nothing wrong with it. In fact I love it and in the last 6-7 weddings I went I wore black. The key to succed lies in the way you accessorize it.
I think it also depends on the country traditions. Here, in Portugal, some "gossip ladies" don't like black (nor white), but in the end there's a lot of people wearing it. And let's face it there's a big difference between the black you wear at a wedding party and the black you wear at a funeral :)
Hi Marie! Just catching up on old old posts! I would definitely be unsure about wearing black to a wedding, but you look smokin'! I think this look is perfect for this type of wedding. I went to three weddings at home in June, and I loooove the decor and food too. A chocolate cup- how fab!
