Hello everyone!! If you follow me on Instagram (find me @mariemcgrathpty), you probably already know that my real costume for Halloween this year was this colorful Piñata costume!!! You all know that I am a very cheerful person who is also a big fan of bright colors, so this happy piñata costume just seemed like the perfect fit for someone like me. You can make this costume too!, just follow the bellow instructions:
I made this piñata dress myself using a regular dress, crépe paper, and fabric glue! Bellow is a step by step tutorial on how you can make it as well!
Ropa:
To make this piñata costume, you just need to follow the next steps:
- Start by stretching out the dress with a piece of cardboard or anything else long and flat you may have available.
- Cut a long strip of crépe paper and then cut fringe along the entire strip.
- Use fabric glue to apply the crépe paper on the bottom edge of the dress
- Repeat the same process with as many (or few) colors as you like until you cover the entire side of the dress (I used 5 colors).
- Flip the dress around (carefully) and repeat the entire process on the other side.
- Cover the straps of the dress (if any) with smaller strips of crépe paper with fringe.
And you are all done!
I made this fun piñata hat very similar to the way I made the dress. Use a birthday cone hat as a base and then apply strips of colorful crépe paper using white glue. Finish off with some strips of crépe paper coming out of the top part of the hat.
I used a piñata stick as a prop so that everyone would be sure to understand what I was. My mom also bought me this cute Hello Kitty piñata so that I could use it as a purse :)
Accesorios:
And with that you are ready to be a piñata for Halloween!! This makes a great couple costume as well, just have your friend/boyfriend dress up as a Mexican with a big sombrero and funny moustache ;)
I hope you all enjoyed all the Halloween costumes from this year! Thank you all so much for your support :)
