{Travel}: Paradise beaches of San Blas, Panama
Hi everyone! If you follow me on Instagram (@mariemcgrathpty), you probably saw that I spent this past weekend at the gorgeous beaches of San Blas, Panama. The San Blas Islands of Panama compose an archipelago of about 378 islands of which only 49 are inhabited. These islands are the home of the Kuna Indians and a part of the Comarca Kuna Yala along the Caribbean Coast of Panama.

San Blas is renowned for its breathtaking beaches with white sand and clear blue waters. The islands are all very small and are covered with palm trees. I swear these islands look like paradise in real life! I've always wanted to see them (especially since they are only 2-3 hour drive away), so it was a real treat to spend the weekend there with a big group of friends.
We spent most of our time swimming in the gorgeous turquoise waters and relaxing on the beach. I also had a chance to do some snorkeling to see a sunken ship that was home for all sorts of colorful fishes.
Going to San Blas is somewhat of an adventure for me, especially since there is no electricity and we camped in tents right by the beach. At night when it was time to go to bed, we were surprised by loads of rain (the way it only rains in tropical countries) which proved to be quite a challenge for many people and their tents. Luckily our tent survived, but I can't say the same for everyone else... haha it turned out to be a really funny evening though ;)
Apart from relaxing and swimming by the beach, we also had the opportunity to take a small sailboat out to a shallow part of the sea between islands that is home to lots and lots of starfish!

**Note: We found Spongebob (the sponge) and Patrick (the starfish) that afternoon! haha

All in all, it was an amazing weekend at San Blas. I would highly recommend visiting for anyone who wants to see true paradise beaches. It makes me so proud to be Panamanian and to have such a beautiful place in my country ;)
