One of the most popular tips i have heard regarding pattern mixing is that both patterns should be in the same "color family". Taking that advice in mind, I thought of this floral and plaid pattern combination! Since both the plaid pumps and the floral dress are mostly red and white, they look like they belong together!

A tip for those who aren't too sure on where to start when it comes to pattern mixing, why don't you try mixing a patterned shoe with a patterned top or dress? It's a simple and subtle way of mixing patterns without looking overwhelming.
