Pattern Mixing Challenge: Red is the common denominator
When: Thursday Sept 2, 2010
What:
Striped collar shirt: Conway (Panama)
Floral skirt: Saks (Panama)
Red belt: Madison (Panama)
Red Jessica Simpson flats: Estampa (Panama)
Where: Went to a friend's house to catch up and eat yummy snacks :)
Comments:
For the 4th day of my pattern mixing challenge, I was inspired by the floral-with-stripes trend I have seen all over the place. In particular, I was inspired by a dress I saw the other day in Forever XXI that had stripes on the top and a floral print on the bottom.
Although both patterns are very different, I think they work well with each other. The main reason why they go together is because they have the color red in common. I used red elements, like the flats and the belt, to pull together the two prints (which also have red in them). It's as if the color red is the common denominator, if that makes any sense... jeje

These patterns work really well together!
ReplyDeleteMixing the pattern breaks the pattern of past outfits and in that way makes it different and more alive and doesnt mix up the outfit look, but adds to it. jgm
