For today's Panama challenge, I have divided the theme into two posts. Both of them have to do with Panama being a fashionable and exciting city. Today's outfit was actually inspired by Panama's National Costume called the "pollera". It is a very beautiful and feminine dress that most Panamanians own at least once in their lifetime.
Polleras are actually very delicate and special dresses. They can cost from several hundreds to several thousands of dollars. One of the main reasons why they cost so much is because they can take several years to make... yeah, you read right: years!
Polleras are also worn with beautiful hair accessories called "tembleques". These are made of beads and they are usually either all white or of many different colors. Most of the time, these accessories are passed down as heirlooms through generations.
When I was a little girl, I used to dance all the typical dances of Panama with my very own pollera.

In fact, all of my brothers and sister did too. It was actually pretty fun and I sincerely think that the pollera is a beautiful National dress.
