Challenge day 1: Panama Canal Administration building

When: Monday January 11, 2010
What:
Black & White dress: Used to be my mom's back in the day...
Black jacket: Hand me down from my sister
Black Nine West belt: TJ Max
Pink shoes: Stevens (Panama)
Pink purse: borrowed from my mom
Where: My mom and I went on yet another adventure, this time to the Panama Canal Administration building
Comments:
For the first day of this week's challenge, I was inspired by the black and silver ring my friend gave me. Since the ring is "colorless", I decided to challenge myself to wearing a black and white outfit. This is a big challenge for me since I love wearing color, so I couldn't help adding the pop of pink with the shoes & purse :)

This outfit is even more special because of this unique dress. It was the dress my mother wore the day my father proposed to her... so its at least 33 years old!! Knowing that she wore this dress on such a special day was reason enough for me to be extra happy today :)

The Panama Canal Administration building is just as the name implies: the place where all the administration of the Panama Canal takes place. The beauty of the place is that it is set up high on a hill and it has beautiful surroundings.

This building also brings me fond memories because my family and I used to slide down those hills on big cardboard boxes. It sounds sorry weird, but it was sooo much fun when we were younger. The building also has a tall water fountain in front of it:

This fountain was made in memory of the chief engineer of the Panama Canal: George Goethals (just in case you were wondering why it said Goethals on it... jeje)

So your mom was a fashion plate, too? What a fabulous dress she's handed down to you!

ReplyDeleteThe pink accents make that outfit extra special.
Yes the pink brings new life to this beautiful dress. You look great in it. The serious administrative backgroud was also appropriate dress. How thoughtful you would enjoy wearing this memorative dress. jgm
